Halloween 2022 and Fun with the Sommers
Halloween Time!
Trunk or Treat at the Church
The Saturday before Halloween, Ray, Hope, and I joined our ward for the annual Trunk or Treat activity. First was dinner and carnival games inside then candy collecting outside. Such a fun night with our new friends.Hope collecting candy. This year, she was aware she can't have candy with nuts, and she shocked us when she informed people she can't have candy with nuts.
We decorated our truck with the Disney's Frozen theme.
Hope loves to play the carnival games.
One of Hope's favorite Disney characters in Gaston from Beauty and the Beast. Here she and Ray are with Gaston seeing if Gaston is as strong as Luisa and can hold a donkey. I can't wait to take her to Disney World so she can meet more or her favorite Disney characters.
Note for the future: If you give out the full-size candy bars, buy three or more boxes as they go fast and lots of kids who came to our trunk left empty handed as the bars went fast.
A Visit From Our Dear Friends, the Sommers Family
Last Halloween we missed going trick or treating with our good friends, the Sommers since they moved from San Diego to Wisconsin. Their trick or treating experience last year was a whole lot different from trick or treating in San Diego as they all had to wear winter clothes, which covered up the cute costumes and because of the cold weather they didn't stay out long collecting candy. This year Maya and I had a plan. They would come visit us for Halloween and we would trick or treat here in Florida where the temperature at night is perfect. No jackets needed in Florida in October. We absolutely love this family, which is growing by one this December, and we can't wait for next Halloween when we will likely get together again for trick or treating.
Hope, Ellie, and Madi were ready for some candy collecting. Since Ray, Hope, and I are in an apartment here in Tampa, we took the girls trick or treating in the apartment complex. We quickly learned that trick or treating in an apartment complex is not the place to go. Hardly anyone opened up their doors. Even the homes that had Halloween decorations on their front porch didn't have candy for the girls. Although the homes that did handout candy offered the girls candy by the handfuls since there also weren't that many trick or treaters out that night, so the girls came home with lots and lots of candy.
Madi was dressed up like a bumble bee, Ellie was Sky from Pa Patrol, and Hope was Luisa from Disney's Encanto complete with donkey.
Sad. Nobody came to the door.
Beach Time!
This is Hope's buddy, Ellie. The girls are separated for months at a time, but when they see each other from a distance, they run to one another and embrace with a big hug. Next time, I'll have to get it on tape to share such a tender moment between two friends.
Hope is queen of the mountain!
